UPDATE: Chatham Co. PD provides new tips number for missing toddler

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Chatham County Police Department released a new tips number regarding Quinton Simon, the toddler last seen at his home on Wednesday.

In a post on their social media page Sunday afternoon, Chatham County Police said the new tips number for this case is 912-667-3134. This goes directly to a detective and is only for tips regarding information that might help find the missing toddler.

Police say if you get the voicemail, please leave a message and if you think you see Quinton, please call 9-1-1.

It has now been more than three days since a toddler was last seen at his home on Buckhalter Road.

Quinton Simon was last seen at his home around 6 a.m. on Wednesday. He was reported missing to police that same morning after 9 a.m.

Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley gave an update on the case around 10 a.m. Friday morning during Chatham County’s commission meeting.

He says they are trying to remain hopeful. They continue to search for Quinton in outdoor areas.

Police say he was last seen by his mother’s boyfriend around 6 a.m. and Quinton was fine at that time. More than three hours later, his mother called and reported him missing.

The initial report was that he wandered off. His mother has been questioned by police. Chief Hadley says this is still a missing persons case and they have no reason to suspect foul play.

“What I can say for certain we have a missing person... but we’re looking at all avenues,” Chief Hadley said.

Chief Hadley also says family is still cooperating with law enforcement.

He says they’ve used some search warrants, some at this home and in the pool in the backyard to do more intensive searches.

While the chief is hopeful Quinton will be found unharmed, he says they are being very careful with how they handle this missing person case.

“We have to make sure that we’re doing the right thing, that we’re being lawful, that we’re making sure we dot our I’s and cross out T’s so if we discover evidence it can be admissible in court, we can use it in court eventually if we have to and we can bring a final resolution if that’s the way the case goes,” said Chief Hadley.

He’s hoping they’ll get a break in this case soon.

“I am frustrated. I’m frustrated because we don’t know what happened to Quinton and think how many people love him. Think about how many people are affected by that, not only his close family, the neighbors, staff, anyone and everyone that cares about people, that cares about children, that he is safe, that we don’t know what happened to him. I am frustrated,” said Chief Hadley.

He says his detectives will continue searching throughout the weekend.

“I keep saying it’s a missing persons case because that’s all we know for sure. We don’t have someone that’s deceased. We haven’t located a crime scene or even a deceased person that would indicate that something nefarious happened there. We just don’t have, you know, an actual person to locate and we’re hoping that, you know, there’s some reason where there’s someone that knows what happened to little Quinton and we can bring him home safely,” said Chief Hadley.
