Calvary Day football player picks South Carolina
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A talented football player at Calvary Day has made a decision about where he wants to play at the next level.
Michael Smith chose the University of South Carolina at a signing ceremony Tuesday. Smith is a 4-star tight end, according to 247Sports.
He had a very happy Coach Beamer phone call.
“I text him at first, then he called me, and he said he was in his car, he had to pull over. He was just excited; he made me nervous how excited he was, so I knew it was a right fit after that,” said Michael Smith, a junior at Calvary Day School.
“He is something else to watch play; he’s got all those things coming together. Next thing is you know, he’s not caught up in himself. He’s not so enamored with himself that he can’t be great teammate. His teammates love him and respect him,” said Calvary Coach Mark Stroud.
His team gets to keep Smith or Big Mike as he’s known on the field around for another year. He is only a Junior.
