Soon, the Food and Drug Administration could give the OK for Pfizer’s COVID vaccine for five- to 11-year-olds. That could mean almost all school-aged children eligible for the shot and protected against the virus.
Supply chain issues are hitting schools where it hurts the most – the stomach. Across the country, schools are coping with delayed or canceled shipments of fresh and packaged food and the Lowcountry school districts are no different.
South Carolina’s top educator and public health director are both encouraging more school districts to take advantage of an opportunity that can get more quarantined students back in the classroom sooner.
The company said it will soon ask health officials in the U.S. and around the world to authorize the pill’s use. A decision from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration could come within weeks after that, and the drug, if OK’d, could be distributed quickly soon afterward.
