Soon, the Food and Drug Administration could give the OK for Pfizer’s COVID vaccine for five- to 11-year-olds. That could mean almost all school-aged children eligible for the shot and protected against the virus.
It’s been about three weeks since the City, Chatham County government, Chatham Area Transit and Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools announced all four agencies would give $500 to their respective employees if they get fully vaccinated.
The company said it will soon ask health officials in the U.S. and around the world to authorize the pill’s use. A decision from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration could come within weeks after that, and the drug, if OK’d, could be distributed quickly soon afterward.
